We believe that 1501 Grant Avenue provides us with the opportunity to not only meet our challenges well, but also to provide the North Beach neighborhood with key destination space that is welcoming to all.
At 1501 Grant Avenue we hope to create an Italian bookstore that is open, bright, and welcoming. A place where people can come and experience new ideas and languages. And add value to North Beach and the community.
A larger, more accessible place to read and be in community with each other.
Our new space will be almost three times the size if 548 Union Street! We will have a fully ADA-compliant bathroom, expanded seating and tables, wider aisles…and more books. This extra room also gives us the opportunity to have a much needed area dedicated to events and meetings for our friends and bookclubs.
We need your help.
The new space has been vacant for a while and needs some major improvements, which we expect will take 6-9 months to complete. We need your help to build new walls, a floor, and ceiling…new windows and lighting…new bathroom and storage areas…new tables, chairs, and bookshelves…and of course more books! Help us raise 125K to build a beautiful space and secure our future in the North Beach!
